Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Ark Digital Media Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England & Wales, handles personal data when you use CVAutomate at cvautomate.com (the "Service"). We are the data controller for the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

1. What we collect

We process the following, only to provide the Service:

• CV and job content you upload or paste, including any personal details contained within it (such as your name, contact details and work history).
• Payment information — handled entirely by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not see or store your card details.
• Basic technical data such as your browser language and time zone (used to show the right language and currency), and a small local marker in your browser to remember that you have an active plan.
• Aggregate usage statistics via Google Analytics (such as pages visited and approximate country), used only to understand overall site usage. This data is anonymised and not used to identify you.

2. How we use it

We use your CV and the job details you provide solely to generate your tailored CV, cover letter, match score and related output. We use payment data to take payment and manage your subscription.

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with trusted providers strictly to deliver the Service:

• OpenAI — the CV and job text you submit is sent to OpenAI's API to generate your tailored documents. OpenAI does not use API data to train its models.
• Stripe — to process payments securely.
• Our hosting provider — to run the website.
• Google Analytics — to collect anonymised, aggregate usage statistics.

4. Data retention

We do not retain the CV or job text you submit after your tailored result has been generated and returned to you; it is processed in the moment and not stored on our servers. Payment records are retained by Stripe and by us as required for accounting and legal purposes.

5. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us at the address below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

6. Cookies & local storage

We use a small amount of browser local storage to remember your language, currency and whether you have an active plan. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children

The Service is intended for adults seeking employment and is not directed at children under 16.

8. Browser extension

Our optional Chrome extension, CVAutomate — Application Autofill, helps you fill in online job application forms. Any details you save (such as your name, contact details, work history and cover letter) are stored locally in your own browser using the browser's storage. This information is not transmitted to our servers and is not sold or shared. The extension only reads or fills fields on a page when you actively click it, and you always review and submit applications yourself. You can remove all stored data at any time by clearing the extension's data or uninstalling it.
